DNR To Host Deer Season ‘Telebrefings’
From WisNDR
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will host two telebriefings to discuss the nine-day gun deer season. The first will occur Monday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., to discuss pre-season license numbers, regulatory and safety reminders, and the season forecast. The second will occur Nov. 17, Opening Day, at 3 p.m., featuring DNR Sec. Cathy Stepp, as well as leaders from law enforcement, licensing and wildlife programs.
Media are invited to call in for the phone-based briefings to hear statements from DNR experts and ask questions prior to the season start, and again on opening day. This is the first year that the DNR will host telebriefings.
NOTE: DNR will release an abbreviated version of its annual deer season news packet after the call. The post-call release will provide a brief summary of opening day highlights as well as the statements shared by the telebriefing speakers. The telebriefings provide media with access to DNR staff in central office and in the field to answer questions about the season. Additionally, starting Nov. 8, DNR will launch a web-based table of key license sales numbers. The table will be updated at least once daily and can be found at dnr.wi.gov, search keyword “deer.”
