Marathon County
Highway: I-39/US 51 southbound
Location: Between Business 51 and Foxglove Road
Schedule: September 10, 2012 to May 2014 Cost: $12.2 million Description: Crews will reconstruct the southbound I-39/US 51 lanes just south of the Business 51 interchange to north of Foxglove Road. The I-39/US 51 structure over Business 51 will be replaced and widened. The structure over the Wisconsin River will be re-decked and widened.
Traffic impacts: During construction, I-39/US 51 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter delays, single lane closures, ramp closures and lane shifts. When lanes are closed the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph.
Highway: WIS 29 (*updated*)
Location: Between WIS 107 to County O
Schedule: August 13, 2012 to November 2013 Cost: $23 million Description: Improvements include: installation of a storm sewer system to collect rainwater and snowmelt; conversion of the two-way, center turn lane into a safety barrier median; removal of all existing at grade intersections besides 144th Avenue which will have right-in and right out access provided by westbound WIS 29;Maratech Drive will be extended to 144th Avenue; and County O will be realigned to WIS 29 and a new WIS 29/County O interchange will be constructed.
Traffic impacts: WIS 29 is open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures, flagging operations, traffic switches and some delays. To avoid delays motorists may want to allow extra travel time. Blasting operations are under way on County O, north of WIS 29; no impacts to traffic on WIS 29 are expected. Motorists are reminded to drive with caution in the work zone and should be prepared to encounter slow moving trucks. There will be single lane closures in the eastbound and westbound lanes on November 19 and 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on November 21 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Highway: WIS 13 (*updated*)
Location: North Street (Colby) to Linden Street (Abbotsford)
Schedule: April 30 to mid-November 2012 Cost: $8.3 million Description: Crews will reconstruct WIS 13 to a new urban, four-lane divided roadway. Work also includes intersection improvements, new traffic signals, new sidewalk, new railroad signals and gates, and new street lighting.
Traffic impacts: WIS 13 is currently open to one lane in each direction. Motorists are reminded to drive with caution in the work zone and be prepared to encounter slow moving trucks and flagging operations. Crews plan to open WIS 13 to two lanes in each direction by noon on Wednesday, November 21.
Wood County
Highway: US 10 (*updated*)
Location: Klondike Drive to Wood County BB Schedule: July 5, 2011 to December 2012 Cost: $12.3 million Description:Crews constructed and prepared the new alignment of US 10 for concrete paving. This project also involves the construction of roundabouts at the US 10/ Klondike Drive/WIS 80 intersection, the new US 10/ County BB intersection, and the Central Avenue/Heritage Drive intersection.
Traffic impacts: Heritage Drive (old US 10) from Central Avenue to approximately .25 miles to the east remains closed. Access is maintained for adjacent property owners except for brief periods of storm sewer, grading or concrete work. Crews plan to reopen Heritage Drive on Wednesday, November 21. The schedule is dependent on weather and construction status. If crews are unable to reopen the road on Nov. 21, they will reopen the road during the week of Nov. 26.
