October Jobs Report Released
Wisconsin lost roughly 6,000 private sector and 1,500 jobs in October.
The state also gained some 3,500 private sector jobs during the first part of 2012, so the unemployment rate managed to fall to 6.9 percent, slightly lower than September.
According to the North Centeral Wisconsin Workforce Development Board in Stevens Point, statwide unemployment was 7.3 percent
In September, all north central counties reported lower unemployment numbers than in September of 2011. Portage County has regularly had a lower unemployment than surrounding counties, and is currently is lowest in the area at 5.6%.
