John (Jack) William Low, 90
John William Low, (Jack), 90, died at his home Dec. 4, 2012. John was born November 4, 1922 at High Ridge, Missouri to Ella (Wielt) and the Rev. George Low. The family moved to Sigourney, Iowa and then Duluth, Minnesota. Jack spent his grade school years in Duluth. In his youth, Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports. As a senior in high school, he was nominated to the United States Military Academy, West Point.
In 1940, Jack enlisted in the Army Air Corp. A veteran of WWII, he served in the United States and North Africa. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.
In 1941, Jack was married to Lois Wargin of Hermantown, Minnesota. After their marriage, Jack and Lois moved to Chicago, IL. where Jack attended the University of Chicago and received a B.S. in Meteorology and an MBA.
After graduation, Jack joined Hardware Mutual Insurance Company, now Sentry Insurance. He worked in underwriting and sales and was instrumental in developing Sentry Life Insurance. He retired as a Senior Accounts Executive.
He and Lois retired to the southwest, living in Utah and Nevada, where they enjoyed hiking and taking Elderhostel classes. They returned to Stevens Point to be closer to their family, especially the grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and his dry wit and quiet, sincere demeanor will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years and a grandson, Sigurd McKee. He is survived by one son, John (Chris) Low, Mosinee; three daughters, Susan (Bob) Low, Stevens Point; Christine (Bill) McKee, Amherst, and Laurie Low, Stevens Point, and three grandchildren, Aaron, Will and Carl.

In accordance with Jack’s wishes, no service will be held. Any memorial gift to Jack should be made payable to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service or the Salvation Army.
