Kenneth D. Slicker, 82
Kenneth D. Slicker, 82, of Stevens Point died early Monday morning December 16, 2012 at his home.
Ken was born June 6, 1930 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Wallock) Slicker. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. Ken also attended St. Johns University in Minnesota for music. Ken was veteran of the United States Army.
He was inducted on October 2, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI, and was honorably discharged on September 10, 1953 at Camp Carson, Colorado. His marriage to Therese Migas took place on August 27, 1955 at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. After their marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. His wife Therese preceded him in death on June 6, 2007.
Ken worked for a number of years in his fathers Liquor store. He then opened and operated Slicker Maytag Appliance Store and Repair in Stevens Point for many years. He later operated a general grocery store in Amherst Junction. In his later years he assisted his wife Therese with her daily operations of her insurance agency. Ken enjoyed the Green Bay Packers. He loved music, and played the organ for St. Peters Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Parish and cherished his friendships he made in working with the Choirs.
In lieu of flowers a memorial in Ken’s name will be established at a later date. Ken is survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, and a Foster Brother Leo Meronek of Plover. He was preceded in death by his wife Therese, two children Alfred and Therese and a Brother and Sister in law, Russ and Lucille Slicker.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 t0 7:00 PM., and on Friday at St. Josephs Church from 9:00 AM until the time for mass.
