Patricia K. Thompson, age 81, of Stevens Point passed away Friday morning December 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday December 24, 2012 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Rev. James Logan will officiate.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. A general rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral chapel.
No public visitation will be held on Monday.
Patricia was born February 25, 1931 in Stevens Point, the daughter of Charles and Katherine (O’Conner) Dineen. She attended St. Stephens grade school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1949. After graduation she was employed at St. Michaels Hospital and then the Portage County Welfare Department which included the Veterans Service Office.
Patricia married John (Jack) Thompson on September 26, 1953. The couple raised eight children. She returned to the workforce and worked for the State of Wisconsin (DILHR) retiring in 1974. Patricia volunteered as an Eucharistic Minister at St. Stephens Church taking communion to the home bound. She also did volunteer work for RSVP, Motor Vehicle Dept, and various other organizations.
Pat is survived by two daughters: Judy Thompson and Mary (Bill) Higgins. Five sons: Jerry (Christine) Thompson; Michael (Kathy) Thompson; Mark (Darlene) Thompson; Kenneth (Kristine) Thompson; Richard (Yvonne) Thompson. Fifteen grandchildren: Heidi, Ben, Nick, Katie, Dan, Kristopher, Casey, Jacob, John, Leah, Luke, Erin, Josie, Isaac, and Emily. Two great grandchildren: Brynn and Conner. Her sister Eileen Dineen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son James, and four brothers: John, Charles, Bernard, and Thomas. One special Aunt, Cicely Dineen. Pat had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel good. She is remembered by her loved ones as a person who was always enjoyable to be with. She saw good in life and instilled that quality in others.
