City to Hold Informational Meeting on Business 51 Project
The city is holding a public information meeting to explain a massive upcoming Business 51 project.
The findings of a study completed by AECOM for the corridor study of the city’s main drag- ranging from the south limits of Stevens Point through the I39 ramps, will be presented to the public.
The meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Jeffereson Elementary School, 1800 East Ave at 5:30 PM. Public comments will be welcome.
While a short presentation will begin at 5:45 PM, the meeting is being conducted in an open-house format so that people can visit anytime between 5:30 and 7 PM.
Public Works officials say the roadway and underlying utilities are outdated, and in some cases unsafe. The corrider also needs widening.
The public is encouraged to attend and share comments about the study, ask questions and provide information that will assist as the City develops a future vision for this corridor. Various exhibits and maps will be on display and project staff will be available to discuss the project during the meeting.
Anyone unable to attend may still submit comments to Public Works Director Scott Schatschneider at 1515 Strongs Avenue, (715) 346-1561, or by e-mail at SSchatschneider@stevenspoint.com.
