Evelyn Marilyn Budzynski, age 92
Evelyn Marilyn Budzynski, age 92, formerly from Hatley, WI, now living in Oakridge Senior Living Community, Stevens Point, WI passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013 under the care of Asera Care Hospice.
She was born January 1, 1921 in Rosholt, WI, the daughter of the late Leo and Johanna (Wrycza) Basinski. On October 27, 1945 Evelyn was united in marriage to Ambrose Budzynski who died on April 15, 2001. Evelyn graduated from Central State Teachers College, now known as University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a degree in elementary education.
She had a long and industrious teaching career, spanning 45 years with 35 years in the D.C. Everest School District—teaching was her passion. She and her husband were active in the Hatley community and received the Lions Persons of the Year Award. She was also involved in St. Florian’s Catholic Church, participating in the Rosary Society and annual fundraisers.
Evelyn also enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards, polka dancing, attending various church picnics and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Dianne (Nick) Somers, Stevens Point, Cheryl Budzynski, Wausau and Jane (James) Jerzak, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Douglas Somers, Heidi Somers (Mike) Foote, and Ethan, Allison, and Connor Jerzak; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Leanna Foote. Evelyn is also survived by one sister, Esther (Lester diseased) Kluck, Polonia and two brothers, Lawrence (Verona) Basinski, Stevens Point and Jerry (Helen) Basinski, of Rosholt WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Ben (Adrance diseased) Basinski and Chet (Bernell) Basinski.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening February 1, 2013 at Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 7PM. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Florian’s Catholic Church, Hatley WI with visitation preceding the funeral mass at the church from 10 to 11 AM. The Rev. Roy R. Witucki will officiate. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. The family is most grateful for the excellent care Evelyn received by Marsha, Nancy, Sue and the very attentive staff at Oakridge Senior Living Community and AseraCare Hospice.
