State Health Secretary Resigns
By Donnelly Clare
Wisconsin’s health secretary has resigned for a job in the private sector.
Dennis Smith quit his post on Thursday, and his deputy secretary, former Assemblywoman Kitty Rhoades, will take his place.
Smith said he was not asked to resign- which was later confirmed by the governor’s office- and would not discuss his new job opportunity.
In a statement, Walker said the new secretary has a long involvement in health care issues, and Kitty Rhoades will serve the state well. Rhoades represented the Hudson area in the Assembly from 1999 through 2010.
