SPPD Prevents Boy From Icy River Fall
For the City-Times
Stevens Point Police Officers responded to a call of a 15 year- old boy who had walked away from a local juvenile mental health facility last Friday. The officers located the boy on the Clark Street Bridge, which crosses the Wisconsin River.
Upon arrival, officers saw the boy climb over the railing of the bridge holding onto the rail. One officer grabbed the boy’s wrist and shoulder just as he began to fall. Along with the help of another person- described only as a mental health professional- the boy was lifted to safety and transported to St. Michael’s Hospital for evaluation.
No injuries were reported.
