Edwin T. Herek, 99
Edwin T. Herek, 99, of the Town of Stockton, died early Monday afternoon, March 25, 2013 at the Stevens Point Care Center. Age 99, Edwin was born August 28, 1913 in the Town of Stockton, WI. He was the son of the late Vincent and Frances (Berna) Herek.
His marriage to Verona Biadasz took place on November 21, 1942 at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple settled in the Town of Stockton. His wife, Verona survives. Edwin operated a dairy farm until 1978 when he sold it to one of his sons. With dairy farming such a big part of Edwin’s life, he still enjoyed giving his son a helping hand for as long as he was able to do so.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He took pride in his beautiful yard and enjoyed playing cards also. Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Verona of Stevens Point. One daughter, Marlene Koshollek of Plover and his three sons, Maynard (Bonnie) Herek and Myron (Marcie) Herek of Stevens Point and Jerry (Sally) Herek of Amherst. Eight grandchildren, Keith (Carrie) Herek, Houston, MN., Jennifer (Maurice Janssen) Herek, Enscheda, Netherlands, Lee (Missy) Herek, Elroy, WI, Kelly (Chris) Krayecki, Plover, Lynnette Herek, Stevens Point, Jamie Herek, Quincy, IL, Kris Herek, Amherst, Tyler (Ashley) Herek, Neenah, WI, along with thirteen great grandchildren. Further survived by one brother, Vincent Herek Jr. of Custer and one sister, Delores Yenter of Stevens Point. Edwin was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Benedict Koshollek, one brother, Roman, and seven sisters, Laura Haka, Angeline Zblewski, Regina Tiedke,
Sally Wroblewski/Jensen, Frances Wanta, Evelyn Biadasz and Eleanor Golomski
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Custer, with the Rev. Jude Dioka officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call 9:30 a.m. Monday morning at St. Mary’s Church until the time for Mass.
