Frank E. Morris, 88
Frank E. Morris, age 88, of Stevens Point passed away Saturday March 30, 2013 at St. Michaels Hospital.
Frank was born July 23, 1924 in Effingham, IL the son of Frank and Nell (Woodman) Morris. After graduating high school Frank served
his country during WWII as an Army Air Force Sergeant from 1943-46, where he was a mechanic on the B-17 bombers. He married Mary Ann Garrabrant on July 30, 1949 at St. Joseph Church in Lockport, IL. The couple settled in Homer Township and Frank was an auto mechanic/body repairman until his retirement. Frank and his brother Bernie where two of the founders of the Homer Township Volunteer Fire Department, where Frank also served as the fire chief for many years. Frank also started the EMT and paramedic program for the fire department which was the first in Will County. Morris Park in Homer Township is named in honor of him and his brother Bernie.
Frank also served as a Will County deputy sheriff and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, restoring antique vehicles, was an instrument rated private pilot, and an Illinois State Champion Trap Shooter. Frank and Mary moved to the Plainfield, WI when Frank retired. They belong to St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainfield, where Frank volunteered his time.
Frank is survived by his wife Mary and their 5 children: Neil (Barbara) Morris; Kathleen (Bob) Kaeding; Patricia (Richard) Link; Susan (Kenneth) Fijan; and Janet Morris. 2 brothers: Merle (Gloria) and Earl (Phyllis) Morris. 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, their daughter Mary, 2 sisters June Handy and Lorraine (Bea) Hayes and one brother Bernard.
