Andrew “Andy” Walker, 47
Andrew “Andy” Walker, age 47, of Stevens Point passed away after suffering complications from diabetes at his home on April 2, 2013. Andy was a proud member of the Menominee Indian Nation.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Andy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday April 6, 2013 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial at a later date will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, and again from 10:30 AM to the time of services Saturday at the church.
A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name for the Pacelli Athletic Association.
Andy was born January 27, 1966 in Green Bay. He grew up in Stevens Point and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1984. While at Pacelli he was a state champion track athlete and basketball, football standout. Andy was accepted to the school of engineering department at UW- Madison, but due to his health conditions he went to UWSP and participated on the football team. He graduated from UWSP with an urban planning degree in the Department of Natural Resources. His health conditions prevented him from using his degree to the fullest as he lost his eyesight. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and all type of sports. He holds the record for the largest brown trout ever caught in the Plover River.
Survivors include his three children: Alec, Grayson, and Brittany Walker. 2 grandchildren: Aylen and Alyana. His parents Deacon Hugh and Sandra Walker. Four brothers and sisters: Chris (Lynn) Walker; Sarah (Shawn) Hagedon; Greg Walker; Anne (James) Hassett.
