Something for Everyone at Everything A to Z
By Jacob Mathias
Doug and Connie Scheid opened Everything A to Z, a new and used store carrying everything from house wares and toys, to tires and oil filters with everything in between, hoping to have a treasure for everyone.
The Scheids have been long time enthusiasts of flea markets, auctions, and car shows. Two and a half years ago, they decided to go into the business themselves, opening a business buying and selling new and used products of all sorts. Doug also said he buys out estates and storage sheds as well as from incoming customers.
“I buy about anything” said Doug. “I see everything and anything.”
On the shelves are hundreds of CDs and DVDs and video games, electronic equipment, toys, house wares, tools and auto parts. Doug said he will buy just about anything for his store if he can afford it, not wanting to limit any potential sales he may have as his store has a little something for everyone. They don’t sell many clothes.
“Everybody sells clothes,” said Doug.
As live auctions have declined Doug is now turning more and more often to online auctions on eBay and sales on Craigslist where he also is a vendor of his own products, on average posting more than 60 items for sale on the internet’s larger sales venues.
“I’d like to get a lot more into that but it’s take a lot of time,” said Doug.
With the improving weather, the Scheids are busier than ever attending flea markets, auctions, and car shows as both buyers and sellers.
In addition to A to Z, Doug and Connie both work fulltime, Doug as a 2nd shift fork lift driver, and Connie works for Aurora Community Services.
Doug said the store is run solely by himself, his wife, and a few family members. He’s hoping to someday expand his staff with increased store sales.
“I’d like to get big enough where I can have employees,” said Doug. “It gets good then it gets slow.”
The Scheids do not have a pawn license and can only buy from people, not pawn. Doug also said that A to Z does not have a federal firearms license so they are unable to buy or sell firearms.
Trades, offers, and haggles are also encouraged. Make an offer, the Scheids will work with you.
