flagRussell H. Zimmermann, age 82, of Stevens Point, died April 12, 2013 at St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield.

Russell was born on June 28, 1930 to the late Howard & Margaret (Gerbitz) Zimmermann in Watertown, WI.  He grew up  in Chicago, attending the local schools, and moved to Wisconsin in 1946; graduating from Watertown High School.

Russell served in the Army from 1951-1953. He was stationed in Japan during his time of service and was honorably discharged.

He married Marion Beine in 1953. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he was employed by Wisconsin Life Insurance.  After two years, he joined Sentry Insurance as a field claims adjuster in the Eau Claire area.

Russell and Marion were blessed with six children and in 1965 they moved to Stevens Point. He retired in 1991 after being employed many years as a Workers Comp Specialist for Sentry Insurance.

He enjoyed spending time in his backyard, watching birds, gardening, golf, horseshoes. Russell especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He also loved to sing,  especially in school & church choirs. Russell was a 58 year member of S.P.E.B.Q.S.A and sang lead in the Sentry Men Quartet.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marion; sister, Joan Golisch; two sons, Stephen (Susan) of Green Bay, WI, Gary (Diane) of Marshfield, WI; four daughters, Tara (Fred) Zobel of Hollister, CA, Lisa (William) Jefferis of Cedarburg, WI, Shari Zimmermann of Delano, Mn, & Laura (Jeffrey) Barth of Mainz, Germany; 13 grandchildren, & 2 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:15 am, Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Petersen officiating.  A time of visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Boston Funeral Home, and on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service.  Interment will be held in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to World Vision.  Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Josephs Hospital CCU for the care and comfort they gave to Russell, and to the family.
