Nellie M. Clussman, 95
Nellie M. Clussman, age 95, of Stevens Point, died April 23, 2013 at Harmony Assisted Living.
Nellie was born August 19, 1917 to the late George & Bertha (Strauss) Phillips in Eau Claire, WI. She grew up in Amherst, attended the local school, and graduated from Emerson High School in 1936.
Nellie worked for several local restaurants as a waitress. Her employers included: the Belmont, Whiting Hotel, Hot Fish Shop, and Holiday Inn restaurant. She retired in 1981.
She married Kenneth Clussman on July 31, 1937 at Peace United Church of Christ in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2002.
Nellie will be remembered for her keen wit and hospitable nature. She loved family reunions, as family was extremely important to her. Hospitality was first and formost, as Nellie always made sure family and friends were well fed. Nellie’s friendly personality and generousity will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading, golfing, and in her younger years, bowling. Nellie was a member of multiple bridge clubs, the Lincoln Center, and she was a member of the Lioness Club.
Survivors include her children, Edward “Dick” (Sue) Clussman of Stevens Point, Arlene (Bucky) Bucknell of Mosinee, Orlo Clussman of Stevens Point, Ron Clussman of Stevens Point, Penny (Randy) Stroik of IL; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth “KC”; son, William; brother, Fred Phillips; son-in-law, Dennis Meyer; great grandson, Joshua Reed.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 29, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ with Pastor Scott Crandall officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Boston Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst, WI.
A memorial will be established at a later date.
