Redesigned Website Easily Connects Volunteers to Opportunities
For the City-Times
Connecting residents to local volunteer opportunities is an essential part of United Way of Portage County’s mission and doing so just got easier with its revamped Volunteers Center website, volunteersrock.org.
Titled “Get Connected,” the redesigned website makes it easier for volunteers to find opportunities to help in the community and for agencies to post opportunities seeking volunteers. “Volunteers and agency staff alike have said that the new website makes it much easier to learn about community agencies, search for volunteer opportunities and events, and sign-up to help,” said Kayla Rombalski, United Way of Portage County Volunteer Center director.
Rombalski said volunteersrock.org is a unique community resource because it allows United Way to post many different community volunteer opportunities in one place, giving a prospective community volunteer the ability to see where help is needed, all from one convenient location. “With the new Get Connected system we are most excited about the ‘Volunteer at an Event’ page,” she said. “It clearly and cleanly displays how many spots are left for various volunteer activities at our community’s largest events. Signing up for an event has never been easier.”
Sara Brish, executive director of the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, said she likes the redesigned site from both the perspective of a volunteer and as an agency that posts volunteer opportunities for Walk Wisconsin. “The registration process is extremely user friendly for volunteers wishing to sign up for an opportunity, and the site allows me to quickly enter opportunities and post them live to the site,” said Brish.
The website also has the ability to post board service and in-kind needs, and it integrates social media, allowing volunteers to tell friends about their activity.
