Six Vie for School Board Opening
City-Times Staff
Six candidates have tossed their hat into the ring for an opening on the school board.
Jeff Presley, Sam Levin, Kurt Lepak, Patricia Baker, Frances Fulton and Meg Erler had all applied for the vacancy left by former Board Member John Zellmer, who moved from the area. The board will appoint one of the six to the spot next Monday during it’s regular 6:30 meeting at Bliss Education Center.
The candidate will serve the remaining one year left for the position.
Presley was elected for the board in 2009 for one term. He is also a Portage County Board Supervisor, along with Levin, who also serves on the Whiting Village Board.
Presley and Levin each ran for the board during April’s election but lost.
Baker currently serves as the Portage County Clerk of Courts. Lepak runs his own business as a local contractor, while Fulton is a retired public school teacher. Erler works as a part-time development consultant with UWSP.
