Arthur John Kowalski, 89
Arthur John Kowalski, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 18, 2013.
He was born May 16, 1924 to the late Delphine and Frank Kowalski. Arthur and Kathleen (Trzinski) were united in marriage on July 2, 1966. Art was retired from the City of Stevens Point Streets Department and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and the Knights of Columbus. He entered the service on March 25, 1943 in Milwaukee. He served in the Army and received the American Theater Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 16, 1946 at Camp McCoy.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Kathleen; 2 daughters, 4 sons, and 9 grandchildren: Laura Kowalski; Brian and Kris Kowalski – Megan and Madison; Christopher and Tonya Kowalski – Peyton, Foster and Taylen; Donald and Amy Kowalski – Endeavor and Emma; Marcie and Michael Kostuch – Samantha and Lillian; and Kevin Kowalski; his brothers Jerry and Beverly Kowalski, Eldred Kowalski, and Robert and Mary Ann Kowalski, and sister Laverne and Willie Trzebiatowski. His grandson Andrew John preceded him in death. Survivors also include his mother-in-law Elizabeth Trzinski and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date. His favorite pastimes were playing with his grandchildren and telling jokes. Like the punch line to his favorite joke: “Do you know they’re not making matchsticks any longer?” his life, too, was long enough.
