Cheng-Han Fang, 94
Cheng-Han Fang, 94, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at Saint Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point, surrounded by her family. The fifth daughter of the late Kim-Chuan Ng and late Chu Un Lim, she was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Chao-Hsi Fang, the loving mother of Constance (Marc) Fang, Stevens Point, Ethel Fang, Stevens Point, and Lynette (Alan) Yu, Toronto, Canada, Gilfred (Annie) Fang, Dallas, Texas, and Wilfred (Julia) Fang, Stevens Point, the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Cavan (Kristen Parrott) Fang, Adriane (James Forsberg) Fang, Darren Fang, Jonathan Fang, Jairus Fang, Allison Yu, and the doting great-grandmother of Laura Rui Forsberg.
Known fondly as Cheng in Stevens Point, Cheng-Han grew up in Singapore, was an alumna of the Methodist Girls School in Singapore, and manager of her family’s rubber processing business before her marriage to Chao-Hsi Fang. During her late husband’s 40 years of ordained ministry in the Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore, Cheng-Han not only was his life-long partner in marriage but his ministry partner in congregational care and hospitality. Upon their retirement in 1980, the couple moved to Stevens Point to be near their children.
Cheng-Han’s greatest joy was seeing her family devour the special Malaysian/Singaporean delicacies she made and she derived great satisfaction that her sewing and knitting skills were greatly appreciated. Her love for traveling brought her to Canada, countries in Asia, South East Asia, Europe and “down under” (at 90-years-young) to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Funeral services for Cheng-Han will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she attended. The Rev. Howard Hintzman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Boston Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
The family would like to thank the medical staff on the fifth floor of Saint Michael’s Hospital for the compassionate care they gave during her brief stay.
