Marjorie Radke, age 89, of Stevens Point, died peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013, after complications from a severe stroke suffered July 3.

Marge was born June 18, 1924, in Stevens Point, to the late Elmer & “Mary” Stimm.  She graduated from PJ Jacobs High School and from UW-SP (then Central State Teachers’ College) with a degree in Elementary Education.

After meeting and dating in college, she was married to Orland “Rad” Radke on August 24, 1946 in Stevens Point.

After teaching in several cities, they returned to Stevens Point in 1956, where her husband, Orland, was Dean of Men & then Director of Continuing Education & Extended Services at UW-SP until his retirement in 1986.

Marge was very involved in her community as a lifelong volunteer for numerous community organizations.  She was part of the UW-SP “faculty family,” attending many University events; she helped organize the first “Meals on Wheels” program and was a volunteer driver for many years.  She also originated and organized monthly birthday celebrations for residents of River Pines Living Center. Marge and Orland also helped in the  establishing of the YMCA in Stevens Point.  She was an active lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, volunteering on many committees as a Sunday-school teacher, youth group advisor, choir member, deacon and representative to National Church conventions.

Marge enjoyed playing bridge in numerous clubs, golfing, swimming, singing, playing the piano, celebrating holidays & birthdays with family and friends, going out to eat, shopping, especially the day after Thanksgiving, and at Walgreen’s.  She and her husband were avid world-wide travelers and spent twenty-five years “wintering” in New Braunfels, TX.

She is survived by her husband, Orland, of 66 years, her five children: Linda (Dean) White, of Denmark, WI, Judy (Danny) Fay of Arlington, WA; grandchildren Molly (Cory) Baker and Cody (Meghan) Fay; great-grandchildren Elijah & Sophie Fay, Tom (Debi Griggs) Radke of Issaquah, WA, Dave (Sally) Radke of Delafield, WI, Jim (Sherri) Radke of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren Tarah & Talia Radke.  Also survived by two sisters-in-laws, Arlene Ransom of Canby, OR, and Carol Radke of Fort Myers, FL; and seven nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Howard Stimm.

A Service, Commemorating Her Life, will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Susan Zencka officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Boston Funeral Home and at the Church on Tuesday from 11:30 am until time of service. Burial will follow the service in Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Presbyterian Church

She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.
