UPDATED: Extreme Heat Prompts Heat Advisory
City-Times Staff
The National Weather Service has placed a Heat Advisory on all of Central Wisconsin until 5 PM on Friday.
Hot, humid weather is expected across the area over the next few days, with the heat index rising to 95- 101 degrees.
Officials from the NWS say residents should take extra precautions to prevent heat-related illness, to include avoiding prolonged, strenuous activity in the direct sun. People should also wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Organizers of outdoor events should also ensure that adequate water and shade are available for participants.
Spotty rain showers can be expected throughout the area during the rest of the week.
