Myron J. Laska, 78
Myron J. Laska, 78, of Stevens Point, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born on April 24, 1935, in Stevens Point, to the late Paul William and Martha (Travicki) Laska. On Sep. 17, 1955, his marriage to Josephine Hornik took place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Knowlton.
Myron attended P.J. Jacobs High School, UW-Stevens Point and the Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He served 14 years in both the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. His retirement from Wisconsin Telephone Company, as a technician, was in 1984.
He had been a member of American Legion Post No. 6 and also Moose Lodge No. 1572. He was a great trumpet player and was a musician for over 40 years playing with many bands, especially the Lee Gardner Band. He was always happy when he was able to play music for people and loved to make people laugh. His other interests included fishing, hunting and tree farming.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine of Stevens Point; his children, Cynthia (Roger) Henderson of Beaverton, Oregon, Debra (Michael) Wasilczuk of Weston, Phillip (Ann) Laska of Omro, Kathleen (Craig Newby) Laska of Stevens Point, and Lori Kuklinski of Ventura, California; grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin and Lucas Laska, Amber Kuklinski and Madisyn (Brent Dawson) Kuklinski-Dawson, and Steven Wasilczuk; great-grandson, Jack Dawson; brother, Alfred (Mary Ann) Laska of Richardson, Texas; half-sister, Marie Laska of Stevens Point; and half-brother, Carl (Geraldine) Laska of Rudolph.
In addition to his parents, Paul William and Martha (Travicki) Laska, Myron was preceded in death by his half-brother, Paul Laska; and step-mother, Regina Laska.
Myron loved his wife and all of his family very much…He loved his God, Family and Country.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Myron’s name to St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. Arul Joseph V. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Knowlton. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 2nd Street, Stevens Point, and again in the St. Faustina Room of the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
