Sherry Edwards McHone, 54
Sherry Edwards McHone, 54, of Stevens Point, WI passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at her home.
She was born October 5, 1958 in Sheboygan, WI to Shirley Edwards and her father, the late Ralph Edwards. She grew up in Lake Bluff, IL and obtained a Bachelor of Arts, major in journalism, at Southern Illinois University as well as a master’s degree in education from National Louis University.
Surviving are her husband of 30 years, David McHone of Stevens Point, WI, her daughter, Elizabeth Edwards McHone of Philadelphia, PA, step daughters Cyd McHone of Waterloo, IA, Ali (Keith) Makeyenko of Mesa, AZ and stepson David (Lisa) McHone, Jr. of Yuma, AZ. Her son, Ian McHone, in 1988 preceded her in death. Also surviving are her sister, Vicky (Dirk) Rasmussen of Wauconda, IL, and her brother, Steven Edwards of Lake Bluff, IL.
Sherry held various civil service senior management positions in advertising and safety with the Army Recruiting Command at Ft. Sheridan, IL. Sherry was also the editor of Glass Magazine, Lake Forest, IL. Sherry was an avid gardener with a degree in horticulture and obtained a Master Gardener Certification.
She was involved in many community activities and volunteered with non-profit organizations in Illinois and Wisconsin, including Community Industries Corporation, United Way of Portage County, First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville, and Sparta and The Daughters of the American Revolution.
Sherry was also a deacon with Hope Church of Libertyville, IL. Sherry and her husband David shared a lifelong passion for cooking, creating and sharing unforgettable meals with family and friends. In 2008 they moved to Adams Lake and created the home of their Dreams. Sherry carried forth her love of photography throughout her life.
A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2013, at Plover – Shuda Funeral Home, 2400 Plover Road, Plover, WI. Burial will be at the Restlawn Cemetery.
