The Stevens Point City Band has entertained large crowds each Wednesday for nine weeks this summer and will conclude its concert schedule with back-to-back concerts on Tuesday, July 30 and Wednesday, July 31.

“The Best of 2013” will be the theme when the Stevens Point City Band presents its final concerts of the year on July 30 and 31.

The band, under the direction of Kathryn Kawleski,  hits the road Tuesday  for a 7:00 pm performance at the Portage County Health Care Center, 825 Whiting Ave.  The group returns to the Pfiffner Pioneer Park Band Shell on Crosby Ave along the banks of the Wisconsin River Wednesday evening.  The baton drops at 7:00 pm. Progam selections include “Selections from Aladdin”, “Jungle Fantasy”, “The Toy Trumpet”, “Instant Swing Concert”, “Albanian Dance”, “Tijuana Brass in Concert” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.  “The Thunderer” by John Philip Sousa will be the music for the weekly children’s march.

Both concerts are free of charge and open to the public.  Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating.

In the event of inclement weather, the Wednesday concert will be held in the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Avenue, Stevens Point.  Michelle’s will be on hand to sell food and refreshments before and during the Wednesday evening concert.
