Coach Robert (Bob) F. Raczek, 75
Robert F. Raczek age 75 of Mosinee passed away Sunday July 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
He was born March 4, 1938 in Mosinee, son of the late Stanley & Victoria (Medrek) Raczek. He graduated from Mosinee High School and the University of Wisconsin Stout. Bob was in the National Guard for several years being called to army active duty from Feb. 1, 1962 to Aug. 10, 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. His marriage to Patricia Schulist took place on Aug. 8, 1964 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Plainfield. She survives.
Bob taught and started his coaching career at Plainfield Tri County High School in the 1960’s. He then taught and coached multiple sports at Pacelli High School, being best known for his coaching of the Pacelli football program up until his death. Bob was very active in the Wisconsin Special Olympics state games for over 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he was an avid sports watcher and lived for coaching and mentoring his players at Pacelli High School.
Survivors include his wife Patricia, one daughter Mary Ellen Hurrish of Junction City, three sons Steve (Amy) of Stevens Point, Mark (Shelley) of Mosinee & Matthew (Lea) Raczek of Stevens Point. 10 Grandchildren: Ryan, Theresa, Rochelle, Jesse, Emily, Alexandra, Gabriella, Benjamin, Isabella & Anthony. One brother Jim (Sherry) Raczek of ME, three sisters Florence Pachniak of Sheboygan, Mary Obrien of IL & Marie (Bob) Wonsil of Mosinee. Preceded in death by one brother Richard, one son-in-law Greg Hurrish & one brother-in-law Ed Pachniak.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 3, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church at 800 Fourth Ave. in Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the Pacelli Student Activity Center (Lower Gymnasium) and from 9:00 AM until the time of services at St. Peter Church on Saturday morning. The Knights of Columbus will join with a general rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday eve. at Pacelli. Burial will take place in the St. Francis Xavier cemetery in the Town of Knowlton. His wishes are for all in attendance to wear red & white attire in his honor as a tribute to his many years of coaching at Pacelli High School. In lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
