Letter: Community Support Kept Skyward Here

To the Editor-

Yesterday I had the privilege and opportunity to attend the celebration put on by Skyward in order to thank the community for all its support in keeping a
multi-vendor option available for software in our state and school districts. I cannot tell you the swell of happiness and pride in being part of a grass roots
effort to create/maintain Wisconsin jobs, help our parents, community members, students, and local businesses as was celebrated this great event.

There are so many thanks to be given that there are almost too many to name. But I must name a few that I encountered along this grass effort in order to make sure the truth was known and the right thing was done.

As a member of the Stevens Point School District I must thank the Stevens Point School Board, most importantly the Superintendent Attila Weninger, Mayor Halverson, our County Executive Patti Dreyer, all of our local legislators, Julie Lassa, Amy Sue Vruwink, Katrina Shankland. (Previous legislator) Louis Molepske Jr. and all others from both parties who were determined to do the right thing for our state.

Thank you also to the Stevens Point Journal. The Portage County Gazette and the Stevens Point City Times who kept us up to speed every day in their current reporting of what was happening in regards to the progress of the SIS (Student Information System).

Whether you like or voted for Governor Walker he did make this a part of the budget and we should acknowledge that it is a good thing and I am grateful that it was approved.
In these times of great concerns and discussions of political discourse, there are times that we as a great state rise above all issues and come together as one united party, a great people, great Americans and say this is right and we will make sure this happens for the right reason.
I am proud to live in a state and country that can make this happen.

Chris Scott
