Baldwin, Johnson Among State Leaders to Request Federal Emergency Relief
For the City-Times
Senator Ron Kind was among a group of Wisconsin leaders who sent a letter this week to President Obama, in support of Governor Walker’s request for a federal emergency declaration for several Wisconsin counties affected by recent flooding.
Many of the counties are located in Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District.
Senator Ron Johnson and Congressmen Ron Kind, Paul Ryan, Sean Duffy and Mark Pocan also signed the letter.
An emergency declaration would pave the way for federal funds to assist communities in the affected areas replace and repair damaged infrastructure and homes.
Heavy rain storms between June 20- 28 this year brought record rainfall and flooding to several areas of western Wisconsin, including Crawford, Grant, Richland and Vernon counties.
