NEW: Plover Apartment Building Being Searched for Clues in Murder

A woman’s body found near Rosholt Wednesday morning is being connected to the search of a Plover apartment Thursday.

Authorities in Waupaca County have confirmed a woman’s body was found inside a burned car in a farmer’s field in the Town of Harrison, which is east of Rosholt, and that her death in being investigated as a homicide.

The victim is a 36 year-old woman from Plover. Her identity is not being release at this time.

Authorities in Plover are searching a Chestnut Drive apartment building today. The property has been taped off and the street has been closed to traffic.

25 year-old Kelly Wilkens, who lives in the building, said she law enforcement arrive at the property to question residents Wednesday afternoon. She says she did not know the victim.

Plover Police Chief Dwayne Wierzba said the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.

“It’s a joint investigation between us, Waupaca County and the Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI), with them being the lead agency,” Wierzba said.

The woman’s body was found in a farmer’s field in Harrison shortly after 11 AM Wednesday morning after sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a burned vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered the body of a deceased woman inside of the vehicle.

An autopsy to determine a cause of death is pending; however, investigators consider the death a homicide.

The Wisconsin State Crime Lab, in coordination with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the Village of Plover Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is conducting a full investigation.

No one is in custody related to this investigation at this time.  Anyone who believes they may have information should contact the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office at 715-258-4466.
