Manufacturing Jobs Expected to Grow Statewide
For the City-Times
The majority of Wisconsin manufacturers and distributors expect to grow sales and add jobs over the next year.
According to a recent survey from McGladrey LLP, a national assurance, tax and consulting firm, of the 48 middle- market manufacturers and distributors approached in Wisconsin, 77 percent reported optimism about company growth potential over the next year.
71 percent of those companies said they plan to add jobs.
Of the 1,067 industry execs McGladrey surveyed nationwide, 83 percent expect U.S. sales to increase and 63 percent to hire more employees.
Executives in Wisconsin and nationwide see government regulation and policies, including health care reform, the federal deficit and tax changes, as barriers to growth, according to the survey.
In addition, 75 percent of Wisconsin respondents say talent shortages will hamper their growth over the next year.
