John F. Gilmeister. Jr., age 94, of Rosholt passed away September 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Ministry Hospice Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday September 5, 2013 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. Rev. Marcin Mankowski will officiate. A general rosary will be prayed at the church for John at 10:30 AM on Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9:00 – 10:45 AM on Thursday at the church.
John was born November 18, 1918 in Rosholt, the son of John and Alexandra (Kiermczenko) Gilmeister. After attending school in Rosholt, John moved to Milwaukee and worked there until moving back to Rosholt in 1953. He opened Johnny’s Bar in Rosholt on Janury 1, 1954. He owned and operated the tavern until his retirement on March 31, 1983. John married Violet Oksuita on July 3, 1957 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. John enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was a member of the Mens Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart League of St. Adalberts.
John is survived by his wife: Violet Gilmeister, Rosholt. Three sons, Kevin(Bonnie) Gilmeister ,Tempe, AZ, Kerry (Tracy) Gilmeister, Oakdale, MN, Kenneth (Renee) Gilmeister, Menasha, WI. 6 Grandchildren: Austin (Chad Mullins) Sadie, Ryan, Lauren, Allison, Alex. Great-granddaughter; Samantha Mae. Sisters; Regina Trzebiatowski, Agnes Filtz, Ann Trezbiatowski. Sister-In-Law, Loretta Gilmeister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers; Stanley and Max and two brothers in infancy. 3 Sisters; Mary Pezewski, Katherine Stanislawski, and Angeline Lorbiecki. 6 Brothers-in-Laws; Henry Trzebiatowski, Henry Filtz Sr., Frank Trzebiatowski, John Pezewski, August Stanislawski, and Henry Lorbiecki. 1 Sister-in-laws; Evelyn Gilmeister
