Phillip W. Mittelstaedt, 70

flagPhillip W. Mittelstaedt age 70, passed away Wednesday September 18, 2013 at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, WI. Phillip fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma which he contracted from Agent Orange.

Phillip was born December 3, 1942 in Portage, the son of William and Frieda (Dummann) Mittelstaedt. He graduated from Markesan High School. Phillip entered the United States Air Force, February 6, 1964 in Milwaukee. He served his country as a SGT in the Vietnam Conflict and earned the NDSM, VSM, and RVCM Medals, and the distinguished flying cross. He was honorably discharged on November 10, 1967 from McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, WA.

Phillip married Christine Voigtsberger on March 4, 1966 in Everett, WA. The couple moved to WI in 1971 and located to several cites as Phillip worked for Kraft Foods as a plant Manager. Phillip retired in 1996 and the couple moved to Leesberg, FL in 1999. He returned to the area with Christine to be near family two weeks ago. He was an avid NASCAR and Packer fan, and loved his dogs.

Phillip is survived by his wife Christine; their son Phillip (Roxanne) Mittelstaedt Jr, Plover. 3 grandchildren: Miranda, Nathan, and Anthony. His mother: Frieda Mittelstaedt, Ripon. His sister: Christine Mittelstaedt (Marshall Faulks), Ripon. 3 brothers: Randy (Barbara) Mittelstaedt, Fond du Lac; Rick (Carol) Mittelstaedt, Ripon; Greg (Sachon) Mittelstaedt, Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father.
