The North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board is hosting an event which will help local business owners learn how to reach out to military veterans.

The event takes place Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Wausau Window and Wall Systems, 7800 International Drive, in Wausau and runs from 1-4 PM. There is no cost for the event but registration is required.

Topics of discussion include the benefits of hiring veterans and how to translate military experience into civilian qualifications. Mock interviews will also be presented.

Unemployment is one of the biggest issues facing veterans in Central Wisconsin, according to the Portage County Veterans Services Office. Event organizers say they hope this event will bridge the gap between veterans and local hiring managers.

To register, contact Brian Jones at 608-267-0403 or [email protected]
