Paul J. Kassner, 88

flagPaul J. Kassner, 88, of Stevens Point, formerly of Green Bay, died Saturday September 28, 2013, at his home. He was under the care of Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice. Paul was born on June 6, 1925, in Green Bay. He was the son of the late Joseph & Irene Kassner.

He attended schools in Green Bay graduating from Green Bay West High School in June of 1943.

He entered the United States Navy on October 6, 1943, where he spent time flying Naval dive bombers mostly in patrol for submarines in the Gulf of Mexico. He was honorably discharged on September 27, 1945, after his release Paul spent time in the G.I. Educational Program. One of his greatest joys was participating in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Program.

His marriage to Lillian Schweiner took place on November 10, 1951. Paul worked for an automotive parts business and FMC Corporation for a number of years, retiring in 1985. The couple moved to Stevens Point in 1996 to be closer to their daughter and her husband.  As a couple they enjoyed golfing, camping, cross country skiing and sports. Paul also enjoyed woodworking and wood carving. They were both very active with the Lincoln Center. His wife died on January 13, 2000.

 

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was a Mason in Green Bay for over 50 years.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Paul’s name can be made to Heartland Home Care & Hospice 3233 Business Park Drive Stevens Point WI. 54481

Survivors include his daughter, Lori (Melvyn) Rousseau of Stevens Point; son, Michael Kassner of Lino Lake, Minnesota.  Three grandsons, Matthew, Sebastian and Cameron.

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday October  3,2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center 2911 Plover Road Plover. Pastor Howard Hintzman officiating. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
