The former boss at bicycle-maker Trek announced she will run for governor in 2014.
Mary Burke announced Monday that she will run against Governor Scott Walker next year as a Democrat
“Wisconsin ranks 45th out of 50 states in projected job growth. We’re fifth from the bottom,” she said in a media release. “I’m running for governor because we can do better than that. A lot better. But to do it, we’ve got to make some real changes in Madison.”
Burke has been serving on the Madison School Board since 2012.
Burke’s father founded the Trek company in Waterloo, Wis. The bicycle company employs around 1,000.
