SPPD: Drug Overdose Suspected in Death of UWSP Student

Stevens Point Police have released additional information in the death of a UWSP student Sunday afternoon.
Police were summoned to a Briggs Street house near UWSP about 4:30 Sunday afternoon after it was reported a 21 year-old man was found deceased by his roommate. Officers remained on the scene until about 6:30.
“Everything is very preliminary, it’s still very early on right now,” said Police Assistant Chief Tom Zenner said Sunday afternoon. “But at this time we don’t suspect any foul play, and there’s nothing to suggest there’s any threat to the public at this point.”
New information from SPPD Monday said the man likely died of a drug overdose, but also said toxicology would take “several weeks” to confirm what kind of drug(s) were in the man’s system.
UWSP Officials today identified the deceased man as senior Jordan C. Peterson.
