Hilde A. Schlice, 89
Hilde A. Schlice, age 89, of Stevens Point, died Dec. 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI.
Hilde was born on May 9, 1924 to the late Paul & Emma (Case) Bartell in Neillsville, WI. She grew up there, attended the local grade school, and graduate in 1941 from Neillsville High School. She attended college in Whitewater, WI and graduated with a degree in Business Education.
Following college, Hilde moved to Stevens Point after accepting a teaching position with P.J. Jacobs High School. She worked as a teacher for over 26 years and retired from the Stevens Point Area Senior High School.
She married Willard “Bill” Schlice on December 19, 1948 at St Johns Church in Neillsville. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1991.
Hilde will be remembered for her love of family and her faith. She was a devoted member of St Paul Lutheran Church since 1949. In her spare time, Hilde enjoyed reading and knitting. Her expertise with cooking and baking will always be cherished, and missed. Hilde enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time in Door County. She was a member of the Board of Director’s at Achievement Center, Community Industries, and RSVP at the Lincoln Center. Hilde also volunteered at the Riverside Art Center; Peace Campus Center; Telecare at the Lincoln Center; University foreign exchange student English Improvement; and Alter Guild & nursing home chapel services at St Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (R.A. “Bud”) Barta of Dallas, TX, Michael (Ann) of Wisconsin Rapids, & Roger Schlice of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Bartolone of McKinney, TX, Christopher (Heidi) Barta of Dallas, TX, Alissa Schlice of Madison, & Nicholas Schlice of Omaha, NE; great grandchild, Haven Barta; and nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and brothers, Paul & Donald.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at St Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Petersen officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Boston Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be held in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Town of Grand Rapids, WI.
