Letter: UWSP Students to Support Thursday’s Fast Food Strike
To the Editor-
Students eat at fast food restaurants on a semi-regular basis. They see how hard people work and many of them are older — trying to take care of their families. But at the wages that they are paid, it is just not feasible, that is why students at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point are taking a stand. They are collaborating with United Council of UW-Students and Wisconsin Jobs Now to hold a solidarity rally on December 5 outside of the McDonald’s on Division near campus.
WHAT: As worker wages drop to poverty level pay in spite of massive corporate profits, student leaders and community activists calls on the public to support fast food worker strikes for higher wages that can boost the state and local economy.
WHO: University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Students, local activists
WHEN: Thursday, December 5 at 12:00 noon
WHERE: McDonald’s, 127 Division St, Stevens Point, WI 54481
