The Health Insurance Marketplace website is showing significant improvement, and with it Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc. is noticing an enrollment surge.

“Today we expect to have more than 1,300 members who have enrolled in our products offered on the Health Insurance Marketplace,” said John Kelly, Security Health Plan’s chief marketing officer. “There’s no question there has been improvement in the operation of the healthcare.gov website. It’s running much more smoothly than it was in October and November.”

As a Qualified Health Plan issuer in the Health Insurance Marketplace, Security Health Plan receives nightly enrollment updates from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. When the latest figures from CMS came in on Tuesday, Security Health Plan saw a 17 percent increase in applications overnight.

In recent weeks, Security Health Plan has taken several steps to help consumers choose insurance coverage that complies with the Affordable Care Act.

To help consumers meet the Dec. 23 deadline to guarantee coverage on Jan. 1, Security Health Plan recently launched a digital enrollment system that allows customers to move seamlessly from the Security Health Plan website to the federal website to check whether they qualify for help paying insurance costs, and then back to the Security Health Plan website to complete enrollment.

Security Health Plan is also moving ahead with special health insurance enrollment fairs throughout its service area to answer consumers’ questions, help them check their eligibility for subsidies and to help them enroll in health insurance.

At the enrollment fairs, Security Health Plan will provide computer access and licensed agents to answer questions, explain Security Health Plan’s coverage options and help people enroll online.
