Town Hall Meeting Scheduled on Parking Issues Near Campus

Parking availability surrounding UWSP has become such a problem that District 2 Alderwoman Joanne Suomi has decided to hold a town hall meeting to discuss the matter.
Suomi said she wants to hear the thoughts and ideas of area residents to help solve the parking issues, which she says affects students and non-students alike.
“This town hall meeting isn’t just for residents of District 2,” Suomi said. “I invite constituents from Districts 1, 3, 4, 5 and everywhere to come and join the discussion.”
Suomi has long been vocal about parking issues surrounding the campus area. She says city and university leaders need to work on finding a better solution to parking problems, and hopes the town hall meeting will encourage new ideas to surface.
Community Development Director Michael Ostrowski and Public Works Director Scott Schatschneider will be in attendance, and Mayor Andrew Halverson said he “would do my best” to attend the meeting.
The meeting will take place Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 PM at the city Parks & Recreation building, 2442 Sims Avenue, next to P.J. Jacob’s Junior High.
