Edwin G. Milanowski, 86
Edwin G. Milanowski, 86, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully with all of his children and wife of 52 years by his side on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.
He was born on March 5, 1927, in Stevens Point, to the late Joseph and Mary (Buza) Milanowski. On Nov. 11, 1961, his marriage to Patricia Glodowski took place at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
Edwin served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was one of the Chosin Few and earned two Purple Hearts, Navy Occupation Medal with Europe Clasp, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Ribbon, PUC and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged, at the rank of Staff Sergeant, on Oct. 8, 1952, after more than seven years of service in the Marines.
He had worked as a truck driver for many years and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion. His interests included fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Stevens Point; sons and daughters, David (Renita) of Almond, Ronald of Junction City, Donald (Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM, Roxane (Ron) Eiler of Berlin, Glenn (Lori) of Bancroft, James of Stevens Point, and Laurie (Carl) Dvorak of Belgium; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters and brothers, Jean Grocholski, Peter Milanowski, Gertrude Alfuth, John Milanowski and Agnes Turzinski.
In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Bertha Sweek, Ben Milanowski and Irene Discher.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Full Military Honors will follow the Mass at church. Interment will take place at the Guardian Angel Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be in the St. Faustina Room of the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass on Wednesday morning.
