Vruwink Intros Bill to Give Military, Families Resident Rates at State Parks
For the City-Times
Representative Amy Sue Vruwink (D-Milladore) testified today in support of Assembly Bill 469 during a public hearing held by the Assembly Committee on Veterans. Assembly Bill 469 provides state park stickers to all military personnel stationed in Wisconsin at resident rates.
“I introduced Assembly Bill 469 at the request of a constituent stationed at Fort McCoy. It enhances Wisconsin’s supporting community to those serving our country. Regardless of origin, Wisconsin is home during their time here and they support our communities monetarily. For example, Fort McCoy estimates their individuals’ discretionary spending in the local communities at $12.2 million in 2012 alone,” testified Rep. Vruwink.
Representative Vruwink thanked committee chair, Rep. Warren Petryk, for holding a public hearing on this bipartisan bill and requested quick committee action to send Assembly Bill 469 to the full Assembly.
