Stevens Point Water Department crews were dispatched to a section of Church Street Saturday afternoon to repair a burst water main.
According to the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office, the burst main began to flood Church Street between Michigan Ave. and Heffron St. around 3 PM. Workers from the water department began to chip away at the road surface to access the water pipes below and to relieve flooding on the road.
Crews will work until the repair is complete. The northbound section of Church Street in that area has been closed off to traffic. Southbound Church Street remains open.
Please use caution in this area.
