flagRaymond Wisniewski, age 84 of Plover, passed away Friday December 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Ministry Home Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday December 28, 2013 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. Greg
Bohren will officiate.  Burial with full military honors will be in the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.  Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at the Shuda – Plover Funeral Home.  A general rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.  Visitation will also be held from 9:30 – 10:15 AM on Saturday at the church.  Memorials in lieu of flowers will be established for St. Bronislava Church and Boystown at PO Box 6000, Boystown, NE 68016.

Ray was born April 17, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Casimir and Waclawa (Wyderski) Wisniewski.  He grew up in Chicago and entered the United States Army on February 19, 1951.  He served his country as a PVT-2 and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1953.  He returned to the Chicago area and married Ella M. Gabel on June 23, 1956.  The couple settled in Chicago, and Ray began his career as a police officer for the Cook County Sheriff Department.  He retired after 28 years in 1994.  The couple moved to Plover, and Ray stayed active repairing items for family and friends.  He also took up painting, and became an accomplished artist.

Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years Ella and their 9 children: Renee Weiss – Manser (James Manser); Janet (Leon) Kundinger; Raymond (Martha)
Wisniewski; Robert Wisniewski; Barbara (Jeff) Flisakowski; Denise (John) Hilgart; Diane (Dave) Chapel; Helen Miller; Michael (Gail)
Wisniewski.   23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, as well as his sister-in-law Irene Niezabitowski..  He was preceded in death by his
parents and 2 brothers: Edward and Thadeus.
