Police & Sheriff Calls
Note: Thanks to more than three inches of snowfall in the Central Wisconsin, over 30 crashes were reported to the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office between Dec. 23-25.
December 23
Crash: Two vehicles, driven by 26 year-old Dustin Turner and Gretchen J. Konopacky 30, were involved in a crash at Hwy 54 & Coolidge Ave. at 8:22 AM. No injuries were reported.
Crash: Andrew J. Berger, 28 of Stevens Point, was cited for operating without insurance and operating after suspension when his vehicle crashed near Post Road & Minnesota Ave. at 1:05 PM.
Unwanted Woman: A 37 year-old man called police when he was unable to force a 38 year-old woman to leave his North Torun Rd. residence at 12:20 PM.
December 25
Natural Gas Alarm: A family was forced from their County Tk. W home in Bancroft when a gas leak was discovered at 2:08 AM. The family was medically cleared but remain displaced while the leak is repaired.
Fire: Crews responded to a fire at 1041 Main Street in Junction City where it was found mice had chewed through some wires and interior insulation caught fire at 4:10 PM. No major damage or injuries were reported.
Verbal Dispute: Law enforcement responded to an Evelyn Court residence when a verbal altercation between a 47- year old woman and 68 year-old man was reported at 10:42 PM.
