NEW: Rothmann to Leave School Board
By Donnelly Clare
First- term School Board Member and current Board President Terry Rothmann won’t be seeking reelection.
Rothmann, who works as executive director of the Community Foundation, was elected in 2013 to fill one of the midterm vacancies left when John Zellmer and Dwight Stevens left earlier in the school year. His term is one of four which expires in April.
While his time of the Board was short, Rothmann didn’t escape controversy. Some Board Members called into question his impartiality because his work with the Community Foundation provided grant money to some public school sites and programs. Rothmann was elected as Board President but only after a month of debate, when others on the Board argued his lack of experience as an elected member worked against him.
Rothmann filed his notice of non-candidacy on Dec 26. A message left for Rothmann wasn’t immediately returned.
