Harlan E. Glodowski, 75

Harlan E. Glodowski, 75 of Custer, died Tuesday December 31, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Home Hospice. Harlan was born on November 16, 1938, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Edmund and Johanna (Pezewski) Glodowski. He attended local schools.
He entered the United States Marine Corps on July 29, 1958 in Milwaukee. He was a Corporal in the Marines and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1962 in San Francisco.
His marriage to Rita Mansavage took place on September 12, 1964, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Custer, after the marriage the couple settled in Custer. His wife Rita died on March 14, 2011.
Harlan worked for Ellis Stone and then the Soo Line Railroad for 30 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Moose Family Center and Knights of Columbus Council 1170.
He enjoyed visiting with friends at South Point Restaurant, loved to hunt, fish – especially the annual Canada trips, was the ‘Founder’ of the Labor Day Backyard Campground, took pleasure in watching the Green Bay Packers and even greater pleasure in being in charge of the remote to tune into any old western he could find and above all loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his children, Brenda (Gene) Retzlaff of Plover, Kenneth (Denise) Glodowski of Stevens Point, Chris (Kathy) Glodowski of Custer, Karen (Andy) Williams of Portage and Shelly (Jeff) Cooney of Plover.
Grandchildren: Jordan, Katie, Cassie, Kirsten, Kyle, Mackenzie, Jennifer, Sara, Lindsay and Samantha. Great-Granddaughter, Anakah Retzlaff.
Also survived by four sisters, Patricia (Tony) Hirzy and Carol Lloyd both of Plover, Rosalie (Don) Cisewski of Stevens Point and Kathy Butler of Custer. Two brothers, Roger (Marlene) of Harshaw and Ronald (Eileen) of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Minfred, Larry and Russell. Granddaughter, Stephanie Rae Glodowski and Grandson, Cory Retzlaff.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care & Home Hospice for their loving care. We love you Dad/Papa and always will.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 7, 2014, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Custer. Rev. Jude Dioka officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center 2911 Plover Road Plover and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Knights of Columbus will combine with the parish rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
