The January meeting of the Stevens Point Police & Fire Commission, which had been scheduled Tuesday at 4 PM, has been cancelled due to extreme weather.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chills of -35 to -50 will continue throughout the day, with temperatures slowly rising throughout the rest of the week, hitting an almost- balmy 27 degrees on Friday.
The meeting’s cancellation is only the latest in a slew of business closures and community program delays throughout the Stevens Point Area thanks to the coldest weather in nearly 20 years. Stevens Point public and parochial schools are also closed Tuesday.
