Zachary D. Wanta, 24, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at home.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1989, in Stevens Point, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.

Zachary was a big NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to races. He enjoyed music, socializing, and loved all his friends, teachers and animals, especially Lily and Sophie.

Survivors include his mother, Rita (Bobby Turzinski) Rutta of Wisconsin Rapids; brothers, Jesse (Molly) of Onalaska, and Garett (Emily) of Stevens Point; grandparents, Eugene Rutta of Rosholt, and John and Kay Schmidt of Custer; aunt, Rene (Jim) Lepinski of Stevens Point; cousins, Chad Orlowski of Plover, Amber and Brian Baumgartner of Appleton, Peyton, Sara and Natalie; nieces and nephews, Madison, Hunter, Carter, Ryley, Raegann, Morgan, Scarlet, Mason, Bennett and Grady.

Extended family members include Anney (Brian) Olds, Brian Jr. and Brett Olds, Bobby Jr. (Ashley) Turzinski, and Amanda (Ryan) Greeno.

Zachary was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Steve and Esther Rutta, and George and Florence Paukert; and his uncle, Thomas Rutta.

The family thanks all of Zachary’s caregivers and the people who have impacted his life. Zach is now free to run and play with Howard, Scruffy and Molly who were waiting with lots of kisses.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, with Deacon Richard Rozumalski officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
