Gaylord F. Repinski, 83
Gaylord F. Repinski, 83, of Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at his residence at Oakridge Senior Living Community.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1930, in Nelsonville, to the late Felix and Helen (Cisewski) Repinski. He was a graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Gaylord entered the U.S. Army on June 30, 1949, in Green Bay, and attended Military Police School at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He was stationed on the island of Okinawa. This experience had a dramatic impact on his life and he spoke about it for the rest of his days. His honorable discharge, at the rank of corporal, took place on Nov. 30, 1952, in Milwaukee.
On May 2, 1953, he was married to Mary Ann Schmanske at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. She died on April 18, 1996.
Gaylord had worked as an accountant for Rapids Distributing in Plover. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports – especially the Packers and Badgers; he was a news junkie for the past decade, correctly predicting the financial collapse of 2008 at least five years before it occurred.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon (Thomas) Flugaur of Stevens Point, and Donna (Mark) Shuda of Green Bay; grandchildren, Brandon Flugaur, Kristin (Nolan) Wessell and Brooke Shuda.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elaine Malcharek, Adeline Sager, Margaret Laszewski and Tony Repinski.
A memorial has been established in Gaylord’s name for the United Way Community Partners Program.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating.
